From the fiber plant to the retail rack, the Demand Activated Manufacturing Architecture project will unite the entire softgoods industry on the information superhighway.

Information. Vital information. Getting the right information at the right time, quickly and efficiently. Giving you the power and knowledge to compete in the global marketplace. It can give your company a pivotal competitive advantage. That's what the Demand Activated Manufacturing Architecture project, or DAMA, is all about enabling companies to instantly access and share information that drives the sourcing of the textile complex.

One-Stop Shopping
One key component of DAMA's collaborative architecture is electronic sourcing, or the ability to identify and compare sources and products. The National Sourcing Database, developed as part of the Cooperative Business Management task of DAMA, provided access to the more than 26,000 companies that compose the U.S. ITC.

The National Sourcing Database prototype enabled you to instantly gather information about suppliers of fiber, fabric, apparel, equipment and services. A simple to use graphic user interface developed by DAMA researchers allowed searching multiple databases ranging from fiber, fabric, and apparel to equipment in a consistent and user-friendly manner. Today, The SourcingMall.com provides a series of links to industry association sourcing directories providing you with the ability to search by product category, service, or company name.

Through SourcingMall.com linkages, you'll be able to collect vital information about manufacturing companies, including their product lines, technical capabilities, capacity, minimum orders, turnaround times, quality, and price points. The associations web sites have links to supplemental electronic services such as catalogs, bulletin boards, and messaging systems for information and ordering. This information will enhance the benefits you will derive from DAMA-enabled electronic commerce on the Internet.

Going Live
Our researchers have implemented links to the Alabama Textile and Apparel Producers (ATAP), the American Apparel Producers Network (AAPN), Cotton Incorporated (Cotton, Inc.), Garment Contractors Association (GCA), Garment Industry Development Corp. (GIDC), Southeastern Apparel Manufacturers and Suppliers (SEAMS), and the Knitted Textile Association (KTA). The National Sourcing Database Internet Web page also links to commercial services such as Apparel Exchange Inc., Davison's Textile Blue Book, and associations like the American Textile Manufacturers Institute, the American Fiber Manufacturers Association and the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA)

Information Is Power
Everyone in the textile business needs access to information about suppliers, products, and services to meet pressing deadlines, supply high-quality products, and to be successful in the global economy.
